The graduate program provides training in basic and applied veterinary medical research for qualified students with a baccalaureate degree or a DVM or equivalent degree. Departmental programs, training includes appropriate course work and research in areas such as Comparative Anatomy and Physiology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry/Molecular Biology, Animal Nutrition, Comparative Toxicology, Immunology, Pathology, Parasitology, Epidemiology, and Infectious Diseases. These techniques were historical; statistical, including meta-analysis and logistic regression; and epidemiologic, including both case series and case control data. The graduate course VME 6771 Veterinary Epidemiologic Research (3 credits) will now be offered during the Summer semester (instead of the Spring semester). It seemed that this study fell into the scope of the policy of the faculty on client-related animal research as the study was performed under the authority of the integration (the owner of the veal calves) and therefore no approval was required. Areas of my research topics are veterinary epidemiology, veterinary communication, risk assessment, food safety at farm level, participatory research, international agricultural development and livestock development in Africa.
